Did Santa leave a Blu-ray player or Playstation 3 under the Christmas tree this year? Well it’s time to head over to your local Best Buy or Amazon.com to pick up some good CDs to show off your picture and home theater system. Pretty much any movie is going to look and sound better on Blu-ray, but some really stand out. Here are 5 titles to get that really give you an idea what your player can do:
1. The Dark Knight
The
iMax sequences are fantastic. To boot, this is a great movie, with great

2. The Planet Earth: The Complete BBC Series
The 11 part BBC series should only be seen in high-def in
my opinion. Amazing images from all around the planet. (Available @ Amazon)*
3. The Ultimate Matrix Collection
It’s hard to watch these movies in standard def once you’ve seen
it in high def. (The Matrix is remastered in this set, and is the better movie,
but Matrix Reloaded looks better in high-def. The car chase is unbelievable). (Available @ Amazon)*
4. Fight Club
One of my
all-time favorite movies gets the Blu-ray treatment with it’s 10th anniversary
edition. (Available @ Amazon)*
5. Pan’s Labyrinth
Great movie, but it’s so dark
that some scenes don’t hold up very well on DVD. Blu-ray is definitely the way
to see it. (Available @ Amazon)*
