Straub: Cheap beer that tastes good.

I first discovered Straub beer while in I was in college. I've always been somewhat of a beer snob and Straub was a killer find on a college budget. At that time you could get a case of it in bottles for around $10.00. It was a definite step-up from the typical college brews like Beast and Natty Light. Brewed in St. Mary's, PA (about 130 mi from Pittsburgh), Straub is a straight forward, clean tasting and refreshing beer. It's nothing fancy and it's all good. It's basically a really good version of your typical American macro-brew.
My college days are long gone, but Straub is still one of my favorite warm weather beers. It's light and goes down easy on a hot summer night, or after long bike ride. Straub isn't widely available outside of Western PA and parts of Ohio and West Virginia, but if you can find it I recommend giving it a try. A case of bottles runs around $20.00 and a case of cans (which they just started brewing last year) will set you back around $14.00. Compared to most microbrews that's pretty damn cheap!
